The Nine-oh Program

Our program is based on two central ideas:

1. Mare Power
2. $peed matters

That said, Jodalito Cielo, a barrel money winner, the cornerstone mare of our program, was fast, fast, fast. I felt crossing her with athletic, cow-bred type stallions could make great barrel horses. She had four offspring from three different stallions that have won in excess of $105,000 and all four of them have run a 17.14 or better on a standard course. Two of her foals are mares—Do It For Beau and Winning Gold Chex—who have had great success in the barrel racing arena.

That’s how I got hooked on the Embryo Transfer (ET) program. I can get foals from my great barrel racing mares while still running them. I have 9 ET foals on the ground. We look for stallions that have correct conformation, athleticism, and a great mind. Speed stallions to cross with the “ratey” mares and “cow-bred types” for the speed mares.

Once the 2 year-olds are broke, 45–60 days with Brandon Sprague in Spokane, I enjoy continuing their training preparing for their futurity year. Bill gets them out of the arena as time allows for fall hunting and gathering cows in Montana.

Thanks for visiting our site and horses.
